Who We Are
At Portree Counselling, we offer compassionate support and personalized care to clients across the Lower Mainland and throughout British Columbia, including Surrey, Langley, Vancouver, Maple Ridge, Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Victoria, Nanaimo, and more.

What will therapy be like for me?Therapy will look different for everyone. We offer in-person therapy in South Surrey and online throughout BC. It depends on many variables, such as your specific goals and the issues you may be struggling with. Typically, the first 1-2 sessions focus on assessment, giving us a general idea of who you are and what your experiences have been like up to now. From there, we discuss your goals and move forward in the therapeutic process. To get a better idea of what therapy would look like for you, book a complimentary 15-minute consultation for us to connect. We look forward to hearing from you!

What is confidential in therapy?Our sessions are held to the highest level of confidentiality possible. This means that anything shared by you in our sessions stays between us. The content of our sessions will not be discussed with anyone without your consent or knowledge. Whether or not you are a client of ours is also confidential and will not be revealed to anyone without your consent. The cases where confidentiality may be breached: There is an imminent danger to an identifiable third party or to self A child is being abused or neglected Disclosure is ordered by a court of law

What is your cancellation policy?We require at least a 48-hour notice when cancelling an upcoming session. Cancelling with at least 48 hours notice allows your spot to go to another client. If less than 48 hours notice is given, the total cost of the session is due in full.

Do you bill directly to extended insurance plans?Yes! Many insurance companies cover counselling services by professionals holding either the RCC or CCC designation. All Portree therapists currently hold an RCC designation. Spencer also holds a CCC designation. If you plan on using insurance, it is important to check whether it covers a counsellor with either an RCC or CCC designation. This means that we can now provide direct billing (dependant on the provider) to your insurance.
