Have you ever noticed that even when you know you’re safe, your body doesn’t always seem to agree?
Maybe your heart races during conflict, or you freeze up when someone gets too close. These experiences aren’t random - this is your nervous system and attachment patterns at work.
Somatic Attachment Therapy helps bridge that gap between what you know and what you feel, so you can experience real, lasting change.
Somatic Attachment Therapy combines two powerful approaches:
Somatic therapy, which focuses on the body and nervous system, and
Attachment theory, which looks at how our relationships shape the way we connect with others and ourselves.
Together, they create a holistic way of understanding why we respond the way we do and how we can gently shift those patterns toward safety, nervous system healing, connection, and ease.
When we are talking about somatic, we are talking about the nervous system - how our body responds to stress and sometimes still reacts as if the past is happening now. By noticing and working with what's happening in our body throughout sessions, we can help your system relearn what’s over/in the past and what is safe now.
When we are talking about attachment, it means that we are looking at how early relationships shape how we connect with others and connect with ourselves. Another important part is the therapeutic relationship itself , meaning the relationship between the client and therapist - our work together can be a safe place to try out new ways of relating.
By combining working with the body and with attachment, this approach helps us get to the root of what’s happening, so we can process it and you can feel more like yourself, more grounded, connected, and at ease in daily life.
